Live a VIP experience as you travel on a deluxe bus to the ancient Mayan city of Chichen Itza, and prepare to be enthralled by world-class landmarks. Feel the power as you view awe-inspiring pyramids and temples throughout these hallowed grounds. Then refresh at the 85-foot deep Ik Kil cenote (FRESH WATER sinkhole), and enjoy food and drinks along the way for a truly exclusive adventure.
Take a deluxe ride to the ruins of Chichen Itza
Your journey into this majestic Mayan empire starts early in the morning with a comfortable ride from your resort on a deluxe, air-conditioned bus. Enjoy the VIP service that includes a continental breakfast served with coffee and juice on the road to Chichen Itza. When you finally ARRIVE AT the sacred site, your personal bilingual guide will be on hand to share insights INTO your breathtaking surroundings.
As soon as you enter the grounds, you'll no doubt be captivated by the glorious Temple of Kukulcan, which dominates the scene at 98 feet high. If you visit during the spring and autumn equinoxes, you could witness the presence of Kukulcan, the Serpent God, whose shadow slithers down the staircase of the temple named after him.
Take stunning photos of more structures
Continue your trek through the Chichen Itza complex and listen to your guide talk about the Mayans' mathematical and astronomical genius, which is exemplified by the Observatory. Mayan astronomers used this structure to watch the heavens above and predict celestial events with total precision. Nearby, visit the Nunnery and the Monastery, two more intricately decorated temples that housed the kingdom's revered clergy.
And you can't leave the Chichen Itza archaeological site without a stop at the Ball Court, one of the most impressive of its kind. On this field, the Mayans used to play an ancient ball game that served as a sacred rite of passage for many young men.
Stop for lunch and swim in Ik Kil cenote
After you've exited Chichen Itza, return to your deluxe bus and head to the nearby town of Piste for a lunch buffet. Enjoy local delicacies and taste the vibrant flavor of the region at the Pueblo Maya restaurant before moving on to the most refreshing part of your day.
You'll visit the naturally beautiful Ik Kil cenote, a freshwater sinkhole 85 feet below ground. Take a dip in the crystalline waters for an unbelievable swim, or simply sit and admire the natural setting that the Mayans considered a sacred water source. When you're done, hop back on your deluxe transportation and enjoy beer and soft drinks, then get a quick glimpse of the colonial town of Valladolid as you pass by on the return to your resort.
